Jamal Hajjo, LL.M.

Lawyer

I advise businesses and individuals, draft contracts and represent their interests in and out of court. We agree on the approach together, taking the legal options and financial risks into account.

My focus is on property law. Before and during my studies, I worked in property management, followed by three years at a boutique property law firm.

Experience and litigation

Before and during my law studies, I worked in property management. This experience informs my understanding of the practical and financial issues in real estate matters.

I examine the facts and applicable law, assess the available options and agree on the next steps with you.

Advice and litigation

I conduct litigation to enforce valid claims and defend against unfounded demands. Settlement is considered where it serves your legal and financial interests.

  • Analysis and drafting

I analyse the legal context and draft contracts and agreements suited to your plans. Careful drafting can prevent later disputes.

  • Pursuing and defending claims

I substantiate and pursue your claims, address the other side’s arguments and defend against unjustified demands. Clear reasoning and careful handling of evidence guide my litigation work.

  • Settlement negotiations

Settlement is a deliberate choice. I negotiate it when it serves your interests and is legally and financially preferable to continuing the dispute.

  • Enforcement

After a judgment or settlement, I assist with enforcement where required. The aim remains to secure the result in practice.

My commitment

Practice areas

Understanding

I take your concerns seriously.

I want to understand your concerns and what is at stake for you. That includes the legal issues as well as your personal or commercial objectives.

Perspective

I look at the whole picture.

A case may involve several areas of law. I examine these connections and take their implications into account in my advice and representation.

Clarity

I speak openly.

I explain my assessment of the options, risks and costs. This includes telling you clearly when I advise against a course of action.

Resolve

I represent your interests firmly.

I take a clear position, substantiate your claims and challenge unfounded demands. I pursue a settlement when it serves your interests.

The whole picture in view. Your interests at the centre.

Practice areas

A good lawyer looks beyond
the boundaries of legal fields.

– because real life does not follow those boundaries.

Civil law

Employment, purchases, accident damage and claims.
View practice areas

I also advise on contracts and disputes beyond property law: dismissal from employment, defective purchases, accident damage or unpaid claims.

Administrative law

Permits and administrative decisions.

Criminal law

Defence in selected cases.

You do not need to know which area of law applies. Tell me about your plans or the dispute. I will assess the legal issues involved and whether I can represent you.

Where appropriate, I can refer you, at your request, to a suitable colleague from my professional network.

What happens next?

Fees

Submit an enquiry.

Briefly describe your matter, your objective and any deadlines. We can arrange how to send any documents needed.

Review of your enquiry.

I check whether I can take on your matter and whether any conflict of interest prevents me from doing so. The legal assessment of your case follows within the agreed engagement.

You decide whether to instruct me.

Once I have confirmed that I can take on your matter and explained the scope of work and fees, you decide whether to instruct me.

The facts and the legal position.

I review your documents, clarify outstanding questions and examine the relevant legal issues. I then identify the available courses of action.

Advice and your decision.

I explain the available options, their prospects, risks and costs. We agree the way forward together; the decision remains yours.

Representing your interests.

I draft agreements, conduct negotiations and represent your interests in dealings with the other side or public authorities, within the agreed scope and observing the relevant deadlines.

A possible further step

In court, where required.

If court proceedings are appropriate or necessary, I discuss the approach and cost risks with you. You then decide whether to instruct me to represent you in court.

Enforcement and conclusion.

The engagement may also include implementing a judgment or settlement and any enforcement required. At the end, we review the outcome and any remaining steps.

From your first enquiry to the conclusion of the matter.

Before you instruct me

Fees

We agree on the scope of work and fees before you instruct me.

Initial consultation
249 €including VAT
Initial written assessment
from 249 €including VAT

These fees require a prior fee agreement. We agree in advance on the scope of a written assessment and the binding total price.

Initial consultation: process and scope

Initial consultation

By arrangement, the initial consultation takes place by telephone, video or in person at the office. The stated price requires a prior fee agreement.

  1. Preparation

Describe the facts as precisely as possible and, where possible, send the relevant documents beforehand. We will first agree on a suitable way to send them.

  2. Making an appointment

We then arrange an appointment and clarify the scope and cost of the consultation.

  3. Consultation

We discuss the legal assessment, available options and next steps — by telephone, video or in person.

Initial written assessment

For a specific legal question. We agree on the scope and binding total price before work starts.

The initial consultation provides a legal assessment of your matter. We discuss the situation, options and next steps. You then decide whether to instruct me further.

It does not automatically include a comprehensive contract review, correspondence with the other side or representation in proceedings. Such work and its fees are agreed separately.

Further advice and representation

Depending on the matter, fees follow the German Lawyers’ Remuneration Act (RVG) or a separate agreement. This may include an agreed hourly rate or a fixed fee for a defined scope of work.

Statutory fees
Statutory fees often depend on the value of the matter and the work undertaken. I explain the potential fees in relation to your case.
Fee agreement
The scope, billing basis and any expenses are agreed in advance. For a fixed fee, it is essential to define the services included.
Changes in scope
If additional work becomes necessary, such as further proceedings or enforcement, we discuss the resulting costs.
Proceedings and cost risks

In addition to your own lawyer’s fees, costs may include court fees, experts, witness expenses and recoverable costs of the other side. Who bears them depends, among other things, on the type and outcome of proceedings and any settlement.

Reimbursement by the other side may not cover an individually agreed fee in full. In first-instance employment judgment proceedings, each party generally bears its own lawyer’s fees even if successful (section 12a ArbGG).

These issues inform the decision whether to litigate. We discuss foreseeable cost risks and financially viable alternatives.

Legal expenses insurance

If you have legal expenses insurance, we assess possible coverage. This depends on your policy, the specific case, any deductible and the insurer’s confirmation of cover.

Insurance does not automatically cover every service or fees exceeding statutory rates. We also agree in advance on the scope and any separate fee for obtaining confirmation of cover.

Questions about instructions and initial advice

Does a contact enquiry already commission a consultation?

No. The form initially helps assess your matter and whether I can act for you. Paid advice or representation is agreed separately.

Is the initial consultation fee credited against later work?

Unless agreed otherwise, the consultation fee is credited against the fee for related further work (section 34(2) RVG). Any different arrangement is expressly explained.

Can I receive legal aid?

People on a low income may qualify for assistance with advice or court proceedings. Eligibility and the costs covered require individual assessment. State support does not automatically cover every cost risk.

When will the price for my matter be clear?

Once the facts and desired scope are clear, we agree on fees for the next step. If a final total cannot yet be determined, I explain the calculation basis and foreseeable cost items.

Contact

Briefly describe your matter. I will contact you to discuss the next steps.

What happens next: I first check whether I can accept the matter and whether any conflicts of interest exist. We then agree on the scope and fees.

An enquiry alone does not create a lawyer–client engagement. If a deadline is running, please also contact me by telephone.

Your message

Name, email and a description of your matter are required. Your telephone number is optional. A brief description is enough for the first contact.
